WHAT WE OFFER
We can create a bespoke mural for almost any space. In schools there are often ugly walls and unused spaces. These can be filled with colourful and inspiring artworks that will last for years. Popular themes include Famous Paintings (inspired by the "Katie" books); Musical Murals, based on classical music; Local Scenes and Landmarks; Classic Fairy Tales; The Four Seasons etc.
SCHOOL PROJECTS
How does it work?
We will help you develop a theme and composition that is right for you. As a school mural is a collaborative project with children, we usually work on board panels, rather than on the wall, for health and safety reasons. These panels can be laid on tables or the floor to allow even the youngest children to participate. We also encourage the use of old (donated by parents) matt emulsion, which makes any project environmental, and affordable. For school projects we request that schools order and cover the cost of the boards and any extra art materials.
We can usually accommodate three classes in one day, by having children come in smaller groups - about ten at a time for 20-30 minutes - to contribute to the mural, which increases layer upon layer.
For us, one of the most important things is allowing the work of the children to shine. We carefully create designs that can easily allow children of all capabilities to contribute and feel involved. While we, as artists, guide the children and sometimes "tidy up" a few bits and pieces, it's important that the children feel ownership and pride in their contribution.
A typical size mural in a day is about 6 metres square.
Usually murals are painted on INTERNAL walls. We can also paint external walls, but there may be additional material costs, as some walls need priming and sealing after completion.
We have a sliding scale of fees, and even offer a discount to very small schools. In terms of what the children gain, we believe what we offer is outstanding value. Simple fund raising activities can soon raise enough for a mural for your school!
